Building and maintaining skills: Instruction will focus on providing learners with the necessary tools and knowledge to develop their skills effectively. This might involve a combination of explicit instruction, repeated opportunities to practice developing skills, and learning games.

Learning and applying strategies: Instruction includes explicit strategy instruction and practice. This involves teaching problem-solving techniques, critical thinking skills, and methods for effective learning and retention.

The Wilson Reading System (WRS) is a research-based, multisensory, structured literacy program. Based on more than three decades of data, WRS is designed for individuals with word-level deficits who are not making sufficient progress through their current intervention; have been unable to learn with other teaching strategies; or who require more intensive structured literacy instruction due to a language-based learning disability, such as dyslexia. By providing intensive WRS instruction in small groups or individually with a highly skilled teacher, reading and spelling success is achievable.
